Possess the Promise

The Bible is filled with promises for us from God, but it often seems we struggle to see those promises take shape in our lives. It is not usually for lack of wanting to experience the promises that we end up in this state. So what is it that is standing between us and the fulfillment of those promises? For Joshua and the nation of Israel there appeared to be a lot of obstacles standing between them and what God had promised; a raging river, armies of giants, and walled cities, all of which made ever seeing God's promise become a reality seem impossible. But in reality, these weren't the obstacles that could prevent God's promises from taking root. Instead, the book of Joshua teaches that the greatest obstacle to realizing God's promises in our lives lies within us and hinges upon our knowledge of and obedience to God's promises and commands. Though it took 40 years and a new generation, the nation of Israel finally possessed God's promise under the leadership of Joshua. This series will look at their journey to learn how we too can possess God's promise.
