If truth be told, deep within each of us there is the awareness that things just aren’t the way they are supposed to be. Somehow everything just seems to have shifted off its axis and as a result life is filled with, well ‘junk’.
Our conscience and our experience are not the only thing that confirm for us the reality that things are just not the way they are meant to be, the Bible teaches us the same thing.
It is no accident that all of these things converge with the same message. God wants to get our attention because in the midst of all this bad news God has some very good news, the best news actually.
The central theme of the Bible is God’s love for you and all people. The problem is that though God loves you and all people it’s impossible for Him to be near your sin. Sin is the reason why our conscience, our experience, and the Bible shout to us that things are the way they are meant to be. We do things we know are wrong, we make mistakes and those wrongdoings and mistakes are called sin. Sadly, until we get the sin thing resolved we can’t enjoy God’s company.
However, God’s love has been revealed to us when His Son, Jesus Christ, came into the world as a human being, lived a sinless life, died on the cross, and rose from the dead. He did all of this for us. Because Christ died, your sins can be forgiven, and because He conquered death you can have eternal life. You can know for sure what will become of you after you die.
Jesus changed everything. His sacrifice on the cross allows things to be fixed between you and God. Now the choice is yours. All you have to do is accept it. God is offering you something you could never provide for yourself: forgiveness of sins and eternal life, God's gift to you is free. You do not have to work for a gift. All you have to do is joyfully receive it, Believe with all your heart that Jesus Christ died for you! It’s simple to do, just pray something life this:
Dear God, thank you for Who You are. I understand that I’m a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe You sent Your Son Jesus to die on the cross for my sins. Please forgive me of my sins and begin to teach me what it means to live as Your child. Thank you for this free gift You have given me through Your Son. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
